Creeping anti-LGBTQIA sentiments in “freedom country” USA.

In California, two school districts banned the display of LGBTQIA Pride flags.

In Southern California, the Temecula Valley Unified School District passed a resolution banning all flags except US and state flags. The Temecula board passed this resolution by a 3-2 vote, with the three board members who voted against the display of LGBTQIA-related flags backed by extremist “Christians” via the Inland Empire Family, a conservative “Christian” political action committee that was also flagged for being against the hiring of a “critical race theory” consultant, and supports banning discussing California civil rights icon Harvey Milk.

Meanwhile, in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Sunol Glen Unified School District approved a ban on LGBTQI Pride flags specifically, with the resolution passing via a 2-1 vote.

The bans weren’t the first anti-LGBTQIA moves that happened in California, still seen as largely progressive. Earlier, the Los Angeles-area Chino Valley Unified School District required teachers to out transgender students to their parents.
