In New Hampshire, the House of Representatives voted 189:182 to bar transgender women and girls from participating on female school sports teams.

Rightwing Republicans control the Lower House, which approved House Bill 1205, titled the “Fairness in Women’s Sports Act”. It now heads to the state’s Senate, where it is also expected to pass as it is also dominated by conservative Republicans.

If passed into law, the bill will require interscholastic, intercollegiate and intramural sports teams to designate participation based on athletes’ sex assigned at birth. This is supposed to be needed to “preserve the integrity of women’s sports” while also guarding the “erosion of Title IX, which prohibits sex-based discrimination in schools”.

In the discourse, the plight of intersex people are not included.
