Dark Ages in Texas?

In Texas, the American state’s Supreme Court allowed a new law that bans gender-affirming care for minors to take effect, making Texas as the most populous state with such restrictions on transgender children.

Earlier, a state district judge ruled that the law violated the rights of transgender children and their families to seek appropriate medical care, while also violatig doctors’ ability to follow “well-established, evidence-based” medical guidelines under threat of losing their license. And so the judge issued a temporary injunction to block the law.

But this order from the all-Republican Supreme Court lifted this injunction, thereby allowing the law to take effect.

The order from the right wing Supreme Court did not provide elucidation, and failed to address the lower court’s ruling that the law is unconstitutional.

The Texas law prevents transgender minors from accessing hormone therapies, puberty blockers and transition surgeries. This ban was signed into law in June by extremist Greg Abbott.
