Visayan LGBT, MSM communities to get HIV trainings, screening materials

Some 30 community-based organizations (CBOs) that are part of the Bisdak Pride network in the Visayas (excluding Cebu-based CBOs), as well as social/text clans in Metro Cebu will be getting HIV trainings and HIV rapid test kits via a partnership with Department of Health-Research Institute for Tropical Medicine and The Red Ribbon Project.

Some 30 community-based organizations (CBOs) that are part of the Bisdak Pride network in the Visayas (excluding Cebu-based CBOs), as well as social/text clans in Metro Cebu will be getting HIV trainings and HIV rapid test kits via a partnership with Department of Health-Research Institute for Tropical Medicine and The Red Ribbon Project.

“We want to contribute to a comprehensive HIV response to achieve the Global Target for 2020: 90% of all living with HIV will know their status, 90% of all living with HIV will receive sustained antiretroviral therapy, 90% of all receiving antiretroviral therapy will have durable viral suppression,” said Roxanne Omega Doron, who helms Bisdak Pride.

Regional schedules:
October 14 to 16: Daan Bantayan, Cebu.
November 12 to 1: Tacloban City.
December 3 to 5, Roxas City, Capiz.
December 26 to 30, (Negros Occidental, Leyte, Cebu area of United Methodist Church)

For this trainings, Bisdak Pride partnered with Outrage Magazine, DYCM 1152 kHz AM Radio, National Council of Churches in the Philippines, Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, VIsayas Primary Health Care Services, and Visayas Community Medical Center.
