White foreigner verbally abuses LGBTQIA Filipinos in BGC; netizens angered by the ‘colonizer’ attitude in ‘our own land’

In a video that has been making the rounds online, a White man threw English slurs to the LGBTQIA Filipinos, and stated: “I don’t care if it’s not my country; it’s my world.”

Netizens are in the hunt to know the identity of a White foreign man who – even if he is just a tourist in the Philippines – allegedly started verbally abusing LGBTQIA Filipinos in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City, and even if they did not even engage with him.

In a video that has been making the rounds online, this foreigner threw English slurs to the LGBTQIA Filipinos, telling them that “no one wants you here. You’re degenerate, mentally deranged, you should go away.” He also called them “faggot”, and when called out for acting this way even if he’s not in his own country, he stated: “I don’t care if it’s not my country; it’s my world.”

In a follow-up TikTok post, shared in other platforms, the transgender woman who was victimized – @cyberc4ndy_ – relayed what happened. According to her, their group went out of their hotel in BGC to collect food that they ordered via Grab. Even though they already paid for their food via Cash, the Grab driver allegedly canceled their order. While they were waiting for their money to be refunded, they were playing around, with a friend recording @cyberc4ndy_ who pretended like she was walking on some runway.  That was when this White man allegedly started to verbally harass them.

“We were surprised he was already beside us, and he was already saying these things,” she said in the vernacular. “He told us that he wished we’d die already, and that he’d call the police on us.”

This foreigner supposedly went to the hotel’s guard to back him up, but the guard refused to do so, telling the Filipinos that this foreigner is just a guest there.

According to @cyberc4ndy_, even if they wanted to report the foreigner to authorities, they do not have information about him, thereby limiting their options.

As FYI: Taguig City actually has an anti-discrimination ordinance (Ordinance No. 3 Series of 2018) that protect the human rights of any person no matter ethnicity, religious affiliations or beliefs, sex, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, physical appearance, and physical or mental disability. But time and again, its actual application has not been seen – e.g. in 2022, a transgender woman (Louis Marasigan) was prohibited from using the women’s fitting room by an employee of ZARA also in BGC.
