Starting Pride early.
The Amianan Pride Council (APC), organizer of the annual LGTQIA Pride in Baguio City in Northern Philippines, announced that it partnered with the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation Inc. (BFFFI), City Government of Baguio, and the International Festival & Events Association (IFEA) to hold the 15th Baguio LGBTQIA Pride Parade – Mardi Gras at the Lake this February 19.
Themed “A Festival of Living Colors”, this will be the first Pride-related gathering in the Philippines for 2023.
In a post in Facebook, APC stated that it is time to “prepare for the biggest and brightest Pride event in the north, and be part of another history as we celebrate our community’s festive living colors of diversity and Pride as we parade for global equality, and look back at the victories we have achieved, and the challenges of the future.”
The parade will start at the upper rotunda of Session Road at 3:00PM, proceeding to the Burnham Lake Drive for the program and awarding.
The parade particularly aims to take advantage of the LGBTQIA community’s public visibility; it will feature Mardi Gras inspired street dance competitions. There will be two categories: group street dance, and solo street dance. Cash prizes will be at stake.
An after-Pride party is scheduled at the Center Point Bar (located at 4/F Cypress Bldg, Abanao St., Baguio City) from 7:00PM.
