To better the delivery of LGBTQIA-related services, thereby provide for the needs of the local LGBTQIA community, the Executive Committee of LGBTQ Bacolod – the premier LGBTQIA organization in these parts of the Philippines – held its first strategic planning that identified the community’s priorities and needed programs and activities.

According to LGBTQ Bacolod’s co-chairperson of the execom, Erika Morales, it is necessary to revisit the organization’s intents as this would “identify the tasks, the activities (we plan to do), and figure out how to implement these programs effectively.”

Attended by 20 local LGBTQ leaders, six committees were formed to ensure the proper execution of the organization’s mission and vision – i.e. human Development committee, equality and human rights, marginalized sectors, health and well-being, economic and livelihood, and external affairs and networking.

For LGBTQ Bacolod chairperson Charlie Chavez, there is still a need to work together.

“We still have to continue to rally unity within our community because that will make us stronger. We continue to reach out to others and remain positive. That is love for the community,” Chavez ended.
