Here comes the new queen.
The Transpinays of Antipolo Organization (TAO) crowned its newest queen, with Freah Garcia winning the 2018 Queen of Antipolo title.
The annual pageant – first held five years ago – aims to “go beyond the notion that such an event is just for entertainment,” said Shane Marie Madrigal, TAO co-founder and current chairperson. “(We) believe that (pageants can) also showcase the beauty, talent, personality and intelligence of every candidate so that people will appreciate the existence of members of LGBTQI community through them.”

The winning circle also included, from first to fourth runner-up: Apple Eya Casimiro, Gariela Viado, Mandy Madrigal and Mariel Leguro.
As the pioneering trans organization in Antipolo City in the province of Rizal, TAO has long been pushing for “people to realize that transpinays are also a part of this society,” Madrigal ended.
