DILG’s National Youth Commission commits P5M for youth-led HIV efforts

The DILG has committed to allocate P5 million to expand the youth-led initiatives on HIV awareness and stigma reduction of the National Youth Commission (NYC).

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has committed to allocate P5 million to expand the youth-led initiatives on HIV awareness and stigma reduction of the National Youth Commission (NYC).

For NYC chairperson Joseph Francisco Ortega, this ought to show the commission’s “active role” in national HIV policy discussions and community-based interventions for the youth sector.

NYC already has engagements with the Department of Health (DOH) and the Philippine National AIDS Council (PNAC) to make sure that youth perspectives are included in all of the country’s HIV efforts.

The funding is supposedly aligned with the national government’s priorities on public health, inclusion, and youth empowerment.
