The city of Mandaue in Cebu is slated to mark Pride on June 26 with a parade at the Mandaue City Heritage Plaza.

In a Facebook post following a press conference to launch the event, the organizers of this year’s gathering noted that the culture of the LGBTQIA community is slowly getting accepted – even welcomed – by the people of Mandaue. This is why the city is known as the “LGBT Capital of the South”.

Aside from the parade, other events for the entire month of June include:

  • Pride Month Exhibit until June 30 at Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex
  • Pride Ball on June 14 at Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex
  • Mandaue City SIGIE Forum on June 19 at Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex
  • SOGIE seminar for Mandaue employees on June 23 (venue TBA)
  • PTA seminar and SOGIE discussion on June 30 at Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex
