Gay Day Hike1She Planet Production has announced that the slated Mt. Batulao “Gay Day Hike” for LGBT people and their supporters was re-scheduled to June 28.

She Planet is a lesbian e-group on Facebook, created by Drew Haya last June 02, 2011. She Planet’s page shares daily topic of each member’s relationships with family, friends and their partners. From having only 200 members, it now has more than 7,500 members today. She Planet eventually started organizing lesbian events, and has been doing so for 33 months now.

According to Haya, “Gay Day Hike” is the first hiking event for LGBT people in the Philippines. “Instead of Pride March, why not try Pride Hike? (Quoting Wendell Berry), ‘The earth is what we all have in common.’”

Haya added that “it isn’t so bad to get in touch with nature while seeking thrill and having fun with your LGBT friends.”

Registration is open, and the registration fee is only P350, inclusive of event T-shirt and Mt.Batulao registration fee. Including the transportation fee, participants need to allocate approximately P650 to P900.

The meeting place is at Coastal Mall Terminal at 3:00 AM of June 28.

For those who will join, stuff the backpack with drinking water, some food, extra clothes, hat, sunscreen, camera, and wear good hiking/walking shoes and comfortable hiking clothes. To those who want to stay and camp overnight, bring all the things needed to survive, such as tent, food, flashlight/headlamp, water, knife, warm clothing, lighter, ground mat, and garbage bag.

There’s a planned side trip to Tagaytay after the event.
