What really matters to you when you date?

When it comes to dating, we all have our own intentions and requirements of how we would like it to go. Yet even with that in mind, it’s not always easy to know what really matters.

When it comes to the idea of dating, we will all have our own intentions and requirements of how we would like it to go. Yet even with that in mind, it’s not always easy to know what really matters. After all, human connection is very much based on chemistry. It isn’t something that we should plan or scrutinise.

But unless you are specific about what you’re looking for, and you are very intentional about the steps you take to get it. You may find that things don’t really work out for you.

To help you, in this post, we’re going to look at what really matters when you date.

1. Looks

It’s really important to address the elephant in the room here because looks will always be important to many of us. That’s not to say that looks are the most important thing of all. Because chemistry and infatuation can fizzle out over time, there always needs to be some form of substance underneath looks. However, having that connection and feeling attracted to your partner is still very important. So it’s key to keep this in mind.

2. Lifestyle Choices

The next thing to think about is the different lifestyle choices that you and a potential partner have. We all like to live in our own different ways, and it’s important that you understand what matters to you. You can also then think about whether you want somebody who has a lifestyle that is similar to yours, or whether it could work if it were different. Either way, you need to bear this in mind when seeking out a potential partner.

3. Overall Compatibility

Alongside this, you may find that it helps to focus on the overall compatibility between you and another person. Rather than focusing on one set thing, it may be a combination of different elements that make things work. For this, you may find that a compatibility-first dating platform can help. That way, you’re not left guessing, and you can find out if a connection is really there.

4. Morals, Values, and Goals

Another really important thing to think about here is morals and values. You need to make sure that you see the world in the same way and that you value the same things. This could become difficult when it comes to raising children, particularly if you don’t see eye to eye. It’s also why having similar goals that you would like to work on together or separately is important, so that you are building the right life together.

5. Intentions

Finally, the most important thing to you could be the intentions that someone has. If you know that you’re not looking for something serious right now, it may be that you care about chemistry the most, which could involve looks or interests and not much else. However, if you are looking to settle down with someone, it could be that their values and life goals are the most important thing to you of all! So, it’s important that you’re aware of your intentions (and theirs!) before you embark. That way, you can make sure you find the right situation you’re looking for!
