Drag personality Eva Le Queen calls for zero tolerance to sexual abuse, but also making drag community a safe space

Following the multiple sexual assault allegations involving drag personalities in the Philippines, drag personality Eva Le Queen stated via a Twitter/X post that this should serve as a wake-up call to those in the drag community to not just call for accountability, but also to “protect the community we all built.”

Following the multiple sexual assault allegations involving drag personalities in the Philippines, drag personality Eva Le Queen stated via a Twitter/X post that this should serve as a wake-up call to those in the drag community to not just call for accountability, but also to “protect the community we all built.”

“What was between the victims and the offenders is one thing. What we need to work on within our spaces to ensure it won’t happen again is another,” said Eva Le Queen – who appeared in RuPaul’s Drag Race Global All Stars and Drag Race Philippines S1 – the CEO of The Playhouse PH.

Earlier, Mystic “Kitchen Witch” Lexie alleged that while working as a personal assistant to Lady Morgana, also a contestant on season 1 of Drag Race Philippines, sexually assaulted her. Lady Morgana responded to the allegation, asking for forgiveness as she cited drunkenness for what happened.

Another drag performer, Muning/Moonlight, alleged that Lady Gagita repeatedly kissed her without consent while she was working under the Drag Den alum. But Lady Gagita responded, saying that what happened sometime in 2021, was consensual; there was also a witness to what happened.

For Eva Le Queen, “I believe that this is a defining moment not just for the queens but for all of us. A wake up call to stand for what is right and protect the community we all built – queens, businesses and fans. We should stand for zero tolerance to S/A (sic).”.

“We will demand accountability. But beyond that, the sexualization in our spaces needs to also be kept in check. Ang mali ng isa ay hindi mali ng lahat. Pero kapag wala tayong gagawin matapos natin malaman lahat ng to, ano nalang tayo? Enabler? (sic)”

In the end, Eva Le Queen is pushing for steps to be taken to strengthen the drag community even from within. “Ang layo na ng narating natin bilang drag queens. It is time we protect this industry once and for all.”
