Going beyond the ‘trans women are women’ slogan

Instead of dwelling on the ‘trans women are women’ slogan, move on and discuss the social inequality and what needs to be done to address marginalization, harassment, et cetera.

I might get flak on this but… I hate “trans women are women” as a slogan. It just invites a debate na hindi naman need nang sagutin/will never have an answer because the answer will always be different no matter who you ask.

Wala siyang sense sagutin and before you know it, nalubog ka na under semantics, philosophical and moral sh*t, et cetera.

I’d rather move on and discuss the social inequality and what needs to be done to address marginalization, harassment, et cetera.

So no, I don’t really care if you think trans women are women.

I’m more interested to know if you think I deserve the same rights as everyone else.

Do I deserve to feel equally safe as everyone else?
Do I deserve to not be discriminated against?
Do I deserve equal access to services and opportunities?

Conversely, does that mean na deserve kong ma-discriminate sa work because I’m trans? Or not be given access to certain healthcare? Na I should just expect those things by virtue of my identity?

Yan ang mas important na questions for me, not whether or not trans women are women.
