Everyone knows confidence is key when it comes to digital dating, real-life dating, career success, and more. But, it’s easier to say you’re confident than feel confident, and sometimes, this means you try too hard to impress others.
There’s nothing wrong with impressing others, but only focusing on what others think will do you no favors, as you’ll constantly chase someone else’s ideal. If you’re going to impress anyone, make sure you impress yourself.
Dress How You Want
Do you have a wardrobe full of bold and brash clothes but never actually wear them? Do you psych yourself up to hit the town in something lavish and eye-catching, only to settle for a simple t-shirt and jeans instead? This is a sign of low confidence and that you’re far too worried about what other people think. If you want to feel better about yourself every time you step out of the house, you need to wear what makes you feel good. It might feel intimidating at first, especially if you feel the clothes are a risk, but you can feel liberated once you do, and this will raise your confidence.
Make Those Changes
No matter who you are, there is something you want to change. Perhaps you feel like getting a new haircut or dyeing it to cover up gray hairs. Maybe you did not have braces available to you as a child and want to find out about invisible aligners to straighten teeth. The changes you make do not need to be substantial, and they might not even be something that anyone else notices. However, you have a vision of the perfect you, and if making these changes will help you achieve this, why not try it?
Do Things That Make You Happy
Too many people can feel confused by their anxiety. They feel ashamed about some of the things they want to do because others don’t consider it ‘cool’ or ‘interesting’. These activities might be difficult to find locally, and if they are, you don’t want to go alone. This is why enjoying your own company is so important, and the moment you realize you can do whatever you want whenever you want, the happier you will be. There’s no point in waiting around for someone to accompany you. If you want to do something, do it.
Create Your Own Label
You might remember trying to be exactly like someone you admired as a teenager. It could have been a musician or a TV character. There’s nothing wrong with modeling your behavior on an idol, but you can’t rely on this forever. You will never impress yourself if you constantly try to be someone else; you’ll never find out who you really are, so make sure you create your own label.
Impressed
Impressing yourself is one of the most important things you can focus on as it will make you feel more confident than you ever thought possible. No matter what you love to do or what you want to change – if there is anything you’d change – don’t do it for others, just yourself.
