In focus: Rainbow loving.
Ariana Grande’s video for “Everyday” – in itself considered somewhat raunchy for showing lots (and that means LOTS) of PDA has included LGBT representation with a lesbian couple included among the pairs showing some loving in public places.
Ariana has a gay brother, Frankie.
Even when she just started, Ariana has already courted the LGBT market/shown her support for the LGBT community – e.g. her 2014 album, “My Everything”, had a track (“Break Your Heart Right Back”) that was about a guy who left his girlfriend for another guy; in 2015, she performed at the NYC Pride; and in 2016, she promoted her ‘Dangerous Woman’ album in gay hookup app Grindr.
Earlier interviewed by V Magazine, Ariana said: “It’s outrageous to me when I see people hate on someone because of their sexuality. I hate the intolerance. I hate the judgment. I hate it so much. Most of my favorite people in my life are gay. It’s something I’m super passionate about, because whenever I would see my friends get bullied, or my brother get hurt for his sexuality, I would become a raging lunatic. I would literally become a raging lunatic because I just can’t take it. When you see someone you love hurting, for such a superficial, bullshit reason, it’s like, how small and spiritually unenlightened and dumb as fuck can a person be? How much further can your head get up your ass that you’re actually judging someone as a person based on their sexuality before you even have a conversation with them?”
Ariana now joins the likes of John Legend, Madonna, Cindy Lauper, Lady Gaga, Avril Lavigne and Sia in including LGBT representation in their music videos.
