Taking care of your mental health is about managing stress, and asking for help when things become too much.

We all need to take proper care of our mental health, but sometimes we need a little help. You can, for instance, check this out; or if you need a few self-care strategies to feel better, try these apps and tips today.

1. Happify 

Happify is a fabulous self-care tool, the app features lots of activities and games, helping users to cope with anxiety and stress. Each exercise on Happify was created by a psychology expert, based on various therapy techniques. App creators claim that, ‘96% of people who use Happify regularly report feeling better about their lives in 2 months.’ There are several different programs that you can select, such as strategies to cope with stress, or focusing on career progression. You can use the app to practice mindfulness or challenge negative thoughts.

 2. Gratitude

Several research studies show that when you express gratitude you start to feel happier, improving your mental health. Using the Gratitude app you can reflect on what you are grateful for, and become more mindful. When you focus on the positive things in life, it’s easier to deal with stress symptoms. There are so many benefits to expressing gratitude, you’ll appreciate the little things, and become more self-confident.

The app offers several nifty features, including:

  • A journal to write grateful reflections and positive affirmations.
  • You can set notifications to remind you to write an entry.
  • The app sends positive quotes to help you feel inspired.

3. Rootd 

Rootd is an application for individuals who have panic attacks or anxiety. The application has plenty of useful features including a panic button, anxiety tips and a breathing tool. Users can take advantage of mental health lessons, to improve their symptoms and lifestyle.

There are several other features to try including:

  • Breathing exercises: These exercises are specifically designed to help people to cope with anxiety and feel more calm.
  • Journal features: With the help of the journal you can set goals, reflect on your feelings and record your progress.
  • Lessons on anxiety: By learning about the cause of anxiety, users can come to terms with their symptoms and make progress.

4. Herbal supplements

Looking for an easy way to support your mental health? There are plenty of herbal supplements which work wonders on anxiety. Try plant based supplements like St John’s Wort or Ashwagandha.
