More attacks against transgender people.

The first criminal president of the US, Donald Trump, signed an executive order that eyes to ban transgender athletes from participating in women’s sports.

The order from the convicted felon requires the government to:

  • “rescind all funds from educational programs that deprive women and girls of fair athletic opportunities”, and
  • “prioritize Title IX enforcement actions” against schools that allow transgender women and girls to compete in women’s sports (meaning, those who allow transgender people to compete in sports categories not similar to their assigned sex at birth could now be sanctioned)

Title IX is the 1972 law that prohibits sex-based discrimination at schools and school activities. Under the administration of Jo Biden, regulations related to Title IX were broadened to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. And now, Trump is packaging the same as a “women versus transgender women” fight by using the law to attack LGBTQIA people benefiting from the law to deal with discrimination.

“With this executive order, the war on women’s sports is over,” Trump said during the signing. “If you let men take over women’s sports teams or invade your locker rooms, you will be investigated for violations of Title IX and risk your federal funding.”
