LGBTQIA+ organization Bahaghari joined the 54th Martial Law Commemoration in Liwasang Bonifacio in the City of Manila with a demand for “greater accountability from those in positions that continue to use their power to hide from the scrutiny of the Filipino people – both Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte.”
“Kung ano-anong drama ang pakana ng mga korap pagkatapos ihain ng mga arrest warrant sa kanila, biglang marami nang sakit? Paawa effect yarn? Samantala ang mamamayang Pilipino ilang buwan nang naghihirap dahil sa baha, namamatay dahil sa leptospirosis, at inaanod ang bahay, naawa ba ang mga kurakot na ‘yan?” Bahaghari’s national spokesperson, Yell Teresa, said.
“Marcos Jr. and Sara Duterte are not exempted from the rage of the LGBTQIA+ community and the Filipino people, puksaan na kung puksaan pero lahat ng sangkot dapat managot, dahil bawat piso na ninakaw ng mga korap ay pisong dapat sana ay nagpaunlad ng mga flood control infrastructures, natural disaster mitigation, at social services para sa taumbayan!” Teresa added.
According to Bahaghari, the LGBTQIA+ community, along with the Filipino people, “will continue to call for a thorough investigation and accountability from the government, until there’s still people in power that puts their interest first over the Filipino people, the call for justice is not yet over.”
The group also encouraged the community and the Filipino people to stand against impunity and corruption.
“Kailangan magkaisa ng bawat LGBT Community upang kundenahin ang korapsyon at kawalan ng pananagutan ng gobyerno. Lahat ng kurakot, dapat managot!” Teresa ended.
