Wedding trends come and go, and we’re seeing a lot of modern ideas at the moment. Couples are going crazy for many different ideas and concepts, so here’s a quick look at the top three modern wedding trends to consider.

Micro Weddings

In a world hit by all sorts of economic stress, micro weddings are becoming more than just a fad. Lots of couples are drifting away from traditional weddings that involve inviting hundreds of family and friends – which end up costing tens of thousands of dollars. Instead, the micro wedding trend usually involves very small celebrations with the most important people in the couple’s lives.

The wedding day still involves all the essentials, but it’s on a way smaller scale. Couples book smaller venues, don’t need as much catering, and may invite fewer than 20 people to the event. Everything is designed to be a more close-knit thing where two people can share their love with those closest to them. Plus, many couples prefer micro weddings because the cost savings allow for a bigger and better honeymoon!

One Location Weddings

We’re quickly drifting away from the days of multi-location weddings. Again, this is a very traditional approach to your wedding day: you book a church or chapel for the initial ceremony before traveling to a new venue for the reception and afternoon celebrations. This is how everyone used to do it, though it often results in the second location being nowhere near the first.

Instead, the modern trend is to combine the ceremony and reception at one singular location. You find your dream wedding venue and then arrange to get married there before seamlessly switching to the celebrations. Or, some couples will actually go to a registry office and officially marry themselves before the wedding day. This means they only need one location for the wedding, which will only involve the celebrations.

People like the one-location idea for a couple of reasons. Again, it’s a cost-effective approach to weddings (which are getting super expensive), but it’s also a more eco-friendly wedding idea. The lack of multiple locations means people travel less, and your wedding has a better environmental impact.

Wedding Documentaries

The first two wedding trends look at the style of your wedding or where it’s located, but this final trend is more to do with something that happens during the wedding. Wedding videos aren’t a new thing, though lots of couples take this to new levels with proper wedding documentaries. They hire wedding videographers to capture and document the lead-up to the wedding, plus the day itself.

The result is a proper documentary-style video that shows behind-the-scenes footage and may include interviews with people attending the wedding. People love this style of thing as a way of immortalizing their wedding days and looking back on them with fondness.

These three trends are massively in right now, so perhaps you ought to consider them for your wedding. Whether you want to save money, beslightly more sustainable, or find a fun way of filming the entire event, these options will be perfect for your big day.
