In Uzbekistan, a bill is reportedly being drafted to ban “LGBTQIA propaganda”, as announced via Telegram by Alisher Kadirov, leader of the right-wing “Milliy Tiklanish” party.
The politician’s comments were made as response to a post on the social networking site Twitter/X by Ivanka Trump, daughter of the re-elected US president Donald Trump.
In that post, Trump quoted a statement by her father, who was convicted for sexual abuse (with the judge saying it is akin to rape), on ending federal funding for schools to teach “unacceptable sexual content and transgender ideology.”
An anti-LGBTQIA legislation is what Kadirov said is desired, so “in Uzbekistan, we are actively working on legislation that will prohibit any propaganda on this topic.”
