A beigel for your thoughts

People queue to try the #bagel offerings of #BeigelBake in #London, and not because influencers fake promoted it, so we #LGBTchecked.

Okay: the word of mouth is huge on this one – i.e. that it has the best beigel in town, so much so that there are times when getting one means queuing for hours. And no, the hype is – supposedly – not because some influencer “discovered” it or fake-promoted it; this one is an OG so people head to it.

So how was the Beigel Bake – Brick Lane Bakery for us?

Una, it was easy to find mainly because it’s known. Googleable, and yes, it’s within range of bus stops along Brick Lane, as well as at Shoreditch.

Ikalawa, this is a takeaway place that is, thankfully, clean naman. People order and run, basically.

It helped that, ikatlo, the food prep was fast; the sandwich makers were more than efficient, churning out orders per few minutes, but they’re also quite friendly, creating that “community” feel.

And ika-apat, the food was good naman

I ordered the Salt Beef Beigel (£6.90; add 30p for gherkins), and:

  1. It was freshly made, right there in front of me, so freshness was guaranteed.
  2. It was quite “basic”, just sliced bread with sliced gherkins topped with salted beef.
  3. The slices of beef were hefty, to be fair; di tinipid.
  4. Malasa naman siya without being overpowering, though for Pinoy taste, need ng additional condiments para magkalasa.
  5. In hindsight, nakakabusog din because it was somewhat big din.

Drop by if able. Better do it late in the evening, or at dawn. That way, you avoid the infamous queue of people wanting to try the place’s offerings.
