Film production company Breaking Glass Pictures announces the upcoming release of Maxxie LaWow: Drag Super-Shero, an animated LGBTQ+ comedy adventure directed and produced by Anthony Hand.

To debut digitally on June 17, the animated film will follow the story of a barista, Simon, who stumbles upon a magical pink wig that transforms him into the drag super-shero Maxxie LaWow. When the wicked Dyna Bolical begins kidnapping drag queens for their youth-preserving tears, Maxxie teams up with best friend Jae for a rescue mission. The story crescendos in a dazzling, high-flying lip sync battle where self-acceptance and fabulous heroism collide.

“Maxxie LaWow is such a joyful, outrageous celebration of queer culture, identity, and drag artistry,” said Rich Wolff, CEO of Breaking Glass Pictures. “When I first saw this film’s vibrant characters and heartfelt message, I knew we had to bring it to audiences. Anthony Hand has created a wild, witty, and unapologetically fun animated adventure that delivers both laughs and heart.”

The film has an all-star voice cast, including Grant Hodges, Erika Ishii, Terren Wooten Clarke, Laraine Newman, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, Michael-Leon Wooley, Michelle C. Bonilla, and beloved drag icons Jinkx Monsoon, BenDeLaCreme, and Monét X Change.

Running for 89 minutes, Maxxie LaWow: Drag Super-Shero will be available via Amazon, iTunes, Google, iNdemand, Dish, DirecTV, and VUDU.
