Quezon City to host ‘rainbow graduation’ on June 27

The local government of Quezon City announced that it will host the second “Graduation Rights” on June 27; venue is TBA.

The local government of Quezon City announced that it will host the second “Graduation Rights” on June 27; venue is TBA.

Started in 2024, also in time for Pride, the event is supposed to be a “special commencement activity” meant to honor students’ graduation rights by providing them with an opportunity to openly express their desired gender identity and gender expression.

The event is open to:

  • Members of the LGBTQIA+ community;
  • 18 years or oder;
  • Residents of Quezon City, or if not, those who finished schooling from any school in Quezon City; and
  • Want to march based on their SOGIESC.

Quezon City is actually among the more progressive LGUs in the Philippines.

Quezon City has a non-discrimination ordinance, dubbed as the Gender-Fair Ordinance, which was passed on November 28, 2014.
