To “help better the chances of the less privileged”, members of Transpinay of Antipolo Organization (TAO) provided skills training to persons deprived of liberty (PDL), with at least six of them transgender.

Some people may need help to get back on their feet, Shane R. Parreno, chairperson of TAO, said in the vernacular. And so “this is our way of helping them gain skills, as well as capital and initial investment to make a living.”

More particularly, hairdressing and bayong making were taught to PDL under the livelihood office of the local government unit (LGU) of Antipolo.

Having spoken with PDL, Parreno said that they did not only show remorse for what they have done, but “interest in wanting to learn. And it is gratifying to help those who want to better themselves, those who help themselves.”
