If you’re looking for a career change and really enjoy driving, then you should consider becoming a trained truck driver. One thing’s for sure – you’ll never be unemployed again.

Secure in your job

If you’re ready to venture off in a new career direction, why go through all the training if it’s not going to be very stable in terms of the future? Well, you’d be surprised at how many truck driving jobs there are out there, and not nearly enough of them will be filled, which is perfect if you’re looking for a job.

Regardless of where you are in the world, as long as you have your license from the appropriate schooling, you can work wherever you want to. So essentially you have the freedom to choose where you want to live, and whether you’d like to work for the company in your area.

Make good money

You can make from around $45,000 to $55,000 (or even more) within the first year depending on your abilities. Things that count are where you were trained as you get what you pay for. If you work for a more respected and well-known company, you will most likely be paid a lot more. The more information that you have gained, the better. So rather than coming out of school knowing the bare minimum – get as many new skills out of it as you can, by taking – for instance, a Texas driving course.

Even the route that you take can have an impact on the money you make. The longer the drive, the more they pay, meaning if you opt for it, you could be on the road for five days in a row. Whereas local drivers (in the US) will be paid by the hour, which can be from around $16 to $20 per hour.

Learn about the little things

A lot of people may assume that all you need to do is drive, and while that is essentially the job, there is so much more that goes into it. As time goes on, you will gradually start to learn more about your vehicle, and it will soon become your best friend. You will know just by a noise what it needs.

Take t-strip rubber modeling for example, this sounds like an unknown object to us, but you will soon realize how much of an importance it holds when you’re out doing your thing. You can find plenty on 1800scales.com along with all the specifics.

And don’t forget, you’re allowed to add your own personal touch to your vehicle too, and that means light galore. You can add all kinds of different colors and add them to create your own character, while also ensuring you are seen on the roads at night.

Your love of big trucks

Most people will become a truck driver purely because they love big trucks. They’re exciting and powerful, and anyone from a young age may remember playing with a toy truck in the sandbox, so being able to drive one of those in real life as an adult is pretty cool. So make that old game a reality and do something that you love, because you can.

A lot of people really enjoy driving, so being able to spend many hours on the road is ideal. You may be the kind of individual who longs for some independence, and you get a lot of that doing your job. When you’re on the road, you’re your own boss – you decide when it’s time for a break, you decide what music you want on the radio, along with how high you have the volume, and you decide what you want to wear every day.

You have variety and ease

The only kind of routine you have as a truck driver is watching the sun rise and the sun set. You may be driving every day, but that doesn’t mean that the job will be the same. You will have a brand new batch of deliveries once a job has been done, as well as a new set of roads and surroundings as you go through different towns and cities. Plus you’ll be meeting new faces on your journey too.

And while you’re doing all of this, you don’t need to worry about the toll it’s taking on your body, because you’re not having to lift heavy items and risk causing harm to yourself. All you need to do is drive.

So what are you waiting for? If you’re ready for a new and exciting career, get your license and bag yourself a job.
